A warm green roof and mixed borders give winter colour
In it's first winter of life, the green roof on this home office has proven its worth. In winter it's a beautiful sight, as many of the sedums take on russet tones and the Stipa tenuissima moves like wisps of smoke. What's most important is that it really has worked as insulation, keeping the little office below impeccably dry and warm, trapping in the heat of a single tiny wood-burning stove which is lit only a few hours of the day. On warm days the heat generated from two computers and one designer at work is sufficient to heat up the place.
